Layers

 Layer Name Format

Layer names follow the following format: “Group_Subgroup_Status

The Group field is a simple abbreviation indicating the discipline or group to which the object belongs. Some example groups are Anno, Conc, Asplt, Fence, Bldg, Watr, Sswr, Sdrn, etc… Group objects by discipline to organize them logically making them easy to find and work with.

The Sub-group field allows further categorization within each group. For example, the Conc group might contain the subgroups lip, tfoc, tboc, fl, walk, ramp, score, etc…

The Status field is a single letter indicating the object's status or scope. Some example status codes are e for existing,  n for new, d for demolition, f for future, t for temporary, x for not part of plans, 123 … for phase #,  Pub for public Pvt for private etc..

Layers and Drawing Templates

Base drawings are created based on the standard drawing template corresponding with the drawing to be created. For example, a new Topo base drawing would use the Topo template and a new Utility base drawing would use the Utility template.

Each template is pre-loaded with the standard layers applicable to that drawing. This avoids cluttering the base drawings with unnecessary layers that are unnecessary to that drawing.

Easily manage and access multiple template drawings by adding them to the Toolspace palette. The attached article from envisioncad explains this procedure very clearly.

Layer Filters

Isolate groups of layers by creating Layer Property Filters in the Layer Manager.

Create layer filters based on the layer group or status field, creating a narrow list of layers focused on the current task.
